According to a recent article in the Las Vegas Sun, Harold Marin-Velasquez, has been charged with the 1st degree murder of Edis Hernandez-Quintanilla.
Police stopped Marin-Velasquez while he was driving his 2004 GMC Yukon. The Boulder City Police (Las Vegas area law enforcement) officers became suspicious of Marin-Velasquez after appearing intoxicated and smelling alcohol on his breath. They then saw a driver’s license for Hernandez-Quintanilla, woman's eyeliner and condoms in the vehicle.
Shortly after the traffic stop officers found Hernandez-Quintanilla’s body. Marin-Velasquez also had dried blood on his shirt and pants and his clothing appeared to be disheveled.
Marin-Velasquez made some admissions of guilt according to the news article. The killing apparently resulted from a dispute over the amount of money that was supposed to be paid in exchange for sex.
Marin-Velasquez has had bail set at $250,000. This Las Vegas bail was far less than the $1 million Las Vegas Justice Court prosecutors wanted. It has yet to be seen if Marin-Velasquez will post bail himself or hire a Las Vegas bail bondsman.
