Retrieving bail bond jumpers is never a fun thing for bail bonds agents. It is dangerous, time consuming and expensive. And sometimes it goes bad in a big way.
In Missouri, 3 bail bondsmen are now in hot water over a fugitive they recovered that is now alleging abuse. Sean Baker, Kevin Ritrovato and Shawn Boyer are now charged with felony restraint and misdemeanor assault. The men who are employed by a bail bond agency called “Junkie’s Bail Bonds”, recovered a man who was wanted for bail bond jumping and probation violations. The bail bondsman was owed less than $250 from the fugitive.
The apprehended man accuses the bail bond agents of mistreating him with pepper spray while handcuffed and subjecting him to excessive heat while being transported. As a result, the 3 bail bonds agents were arrested. Ironically, the 2 bail bond agents, Boyer and Ritrovato, was set at $5,000 each. While the third bail bondsman had his bail set at $7,500. After turning themselves in, they all posted bail and were released. Of course they posted a bail bond and not the full bail amount! The job does have its perks.
While there haven't been any reports of this type of activity among the las vegas bail bonds community, it underscores the importance of knowing and trusting the Las Vegas bail bondsman you hire!
