Yet Another Bail Bondsman Charged with Their Own Crimes

Some bail bondsmen always seem to find themselves on the wrong side of an arrest. In Naples, Florida Joseph "Joe" Houston had his license suspended for 3 years awaiting trial for charges that he employed a convicted felon as a bail bondsman and employed unlicensed person to act as a bail bonds agent.

Alledgedly, Joe Houston enlisted the services of an inmate Collier County Jail, Patrick Rosemellia, to solicit bail bonds business. Alledgedly Mr. Houston, his associates or employees would deposit money into Mr. Rosemellia's commisary account. A commissary account at Collier County Jail allows inmates to purchase snacks and other items.

The charges against Mr. Houston were eventually dropped after a lengthy time. The prosecution explained they had some concerns about the credibility of the testimony of their key witness, Mr. Rosemellia.
