With much of the negative press that has been surrouding the Las Vegas bail bonds scene, it is nice to see some positive news. A number of Southern Nevada businesses, mostly based in Las Vegas, recently came together to support strong climate change legislation.

In Santa Ana, CA a firestorm is brewing over bail bonds marketing and solicitation. At issue is the way bail bonds are marketed to prospective clients coming out of the Central Men's jail. Fliers are handed out and cars wrapped with bail bonds marketing messages are parked just a few feet away from the Men's jail entrance. Anyone coming in or out can't help but see the advertising and guerilla marketing. bail bonds advertising

Ok, Ok, so this isn't about bail bonds or even crime related, but interesting nonetheless. Plus if you have the last name Bonds, are famous and spotted in Las Vegas I think that qualifies you for the Las Vegas Bail Bonds blog. Barry Bonds was seen enjoying Las Vegas last weekend with his girlfriend in addition to another buddy. Barry Bonds owns some unbelievable baseball stats, including a career record 762 homers and the single-season mark of 73 home runs. He was spotted at N9NE Steakhouse at the Palms last Friday evening and then again at XS nightclub at Encore on Saturday.

In a story that seems to get stranger and stranger, Ex Las Vegas bail bondsman, Tim Deam, is now running for Clark County Sheriff. That in of itself wouldn't be strange, except the circumstances surrounding Tim Deam's time as a Las Vegas bail bondsman and his subsequent departure from the Las Vegas bail scene are quite extraordinary.

A British motivational speaker named Michael Victor Lane was arrested on December 3, 2009 at a motel in Ventura, California for killing Ginger Candela. Mr. Lane, who is reported to be some kind of motivational speaker alledgely gave Ms. Candela a meditation session in her Las Vegas bedroom that ended with her murder. Police say Mr. Lane told them that he "hit Candela in the head several times with a frying pan and hung her from the end of the bed with an electrical cord around her neck until she died."

Once again, earlier this year a rich and famous athlete found themsleves in trouble with the law. NFL star Warren Sapp, who previously played for the Oakland Raiders and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, was arrested for allegedly beating a woman during Super Bowl weekend in Miami this year. The arrest stemmed from an incident in which the woman claimed to have been abused while staying in Mr. Sapp's hotel room.

I just stumbled upon an article from last year reporting that Duane "The Dog" Chapman was shot at while trying to aprehend someone in Colorado. Dog is famous for his A&E television show "Dog the Bounty Hunter" which portrays him as a kind bail bondsman and relentless bounty hunter operating in both Hawaii and Colorado.

Some bail bondsmen always seem to find themselves on the wrong side of an arrest. In Naples, Florida Joseph "Joe" Houston had his license suspended for 3 years awaiting trial for charges that he employed a convicted felon as a bail bondsman and employed unlicensed person to act as a bail bonds agent.

Seems as though some bail bondsmen not only post bail bonds for others, but may need to be bailed out of jail themselves. A bail bondsman with Abingdon Bail Bonds in Bristol Virginia, may find himself in just that position. J.C. Mullins Jr. received a license suspension on Nov. 23 from the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services. This Department which licenses bail bondsmen and women in Virginia, enacted the suspension without a formal hearing. The suspension relates to allegations that 3 people masqueraded as drug agents to apprehend a woman thought to have skipped a court hearing.
